Adventures with the CKC Youth Group

I love spending time with the Youth Group from Christ the King Church. On March 26th for our monthly special event, the leadership team designed a three-course meal evening. We started in one home for appetizers, drove to a pastor’s house for hot dogs and burgers on the grill, and then to the last house for ice cream sundaes, hot chocolate, and games! We had a delicious, fun night driving the 30 teens around for food and fellowship!

Visiting the New Hampshire Senate

On St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th), I joined Senator Jacalyn Cilley as her honored guest on the Senate Floor. Senator Cilley presented me with a resolution signed by Tammy Wright, Clerk of the Senate and Sylvia Larsen, President of the Senate, recognizing my commitment and community service work on Passionately Pink: Awareness, Prevention, and Support.

I was given the opportunity to address the Senate and share my passion and sense of urgency to fight against breast cancer - to help end breast cancer forever. Breast cancer is an epidemic. It is the most common form of cancer diagnosed in New Hampshire Women (excluding skin cancer). Each year approximately 1,000 New Hampshire women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and approximately 200 will die of the disease.

Thank you to Senator Cilley for her support and the opportunity to speak with the New Hampshire Senate. http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/Senate/

Bowling for the Dover Children's Home

Bowling for the Dover Children’s Home on February 28th. The second annual Dover Bowl bowling fundraiser raised almost $20,000. The Dover Children’s Home provides adolescents with the highest quality of residential treatment services possible, with the goal of strengthening their relationships with their families and preparing them for productive, independent lives. The event raised almost $20,000 for the Children’s Home! Thank you to Donna Coraluzzo, the director of the Children’s Home, and staff with local celebrity Jeff Paradis who made the event a great success!

Passionately Pink Zumba

Despite the major power outages in NH, on February 27th, The Works Health and Fitness Club were able to open their doors to the public to participate in a ‘Passionately Pink Zumba ‘ class that I created. Graciously, there was no charge to enter the club that day, but the class was accepting donations for the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition! Here leading Zumba enthusiasts, who were all dressed in pink, to receive a great workout and fight for the cure.

National Pancake Day for the Children's Miracle Network

Last year National Pancake Day raised over $1.3 million dollars for the Children’s Miracle Network. The International House of Pancakes in Newington, NH and others across the country were giving away a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes to all customers on February 23rd, in hopes that they would make a donation for the cause.

The day was a huge success for the Children’s Miracle Network!

Girl Scout Workshop

On February 21st I volunteered at a Girl Scouts workshop that was held at the Deerfield Middle School of NH. I taught six different groups of excited young girls a ‘Zumba’ class (aka a ‘Dancercize’ Workshop). The girls and I were sweating, and having lots of fun exercising together!
